Highway y511 u30. Mobile phone Huawei Ascend Y511. Mobile device batteries differ from each other in their capacity and technology. They provide the electrical charge necessary for their functioning.

Touch screen: There are two types of touch displays: resistive and capacitive.
Resistive displays consist of two transparent plates that make electrical contact with each other at the point of pressure. Such displays react to mechanical force through any object. Devices equipped with such displays are equipped with special wands - styluses, which are convenient to operate the device.

The disadvantage of such a display is that the screen is highly susceptible to scratches and abrasions; when operating with your fingers, you need to make an effort for the device to react.

The second type of touch screens - capacitive ones, are free from these disadvantages, because... were originally developed for direct finger control, without the use of any third-party objects or tools.

At each corner of the display there are electrodes that apply the same alternating voltage to the conductive layer of the display. When touched by a finger or other object capable of conducting current and having its own electrical capacitance, current leakage occurs. The closer the touch point is to the electrode, the lower the electrical resistance of the display will be and, accordingly, the current strength will be greater.

Devices with such displays respond exclusively to hand control; touching the surface of other objects, due to the absence of their own electrical capacitance, will not lead to the closure of the contact point-electrode circuit and will not have any effect on the device. If customizable, such a display can be configured not even to touch with a finger, but only to bring it to the surface.

An undeniable advantage of such displays is their very high resistance to mechanical damage, due to the possibility of using fairly thick and durable surface glasses.

Another advantage is the very high accuracy of determining touch coordinates, down to one pixel. When controlling the hand, of course, such precision is unclaimed, but when using special conductive styluses it opens up great potential opportunities.

Capacitive displays are more transparent (about 90%) than resistive displays, whose transparency does not exceed 85%, which makes it possible to display a higher-quality image on their surface.

The physical resource of capacitive displays is at least 200 million clicks, which approximately corresponds to 6.5 years of clicks with an interval of 1 second. Surface contamination with non-conductive substances does not affect their operation.

The relative disadvantages of capacitive touch displays are the need to use large displays in mobile devices, due to the need to ensure comfortable hand control, and their higher cost compared to resistive ones.

Budget devices don't fall into our clutches so often, which is partly good, because many of the cheapest smartphones are a depressing sight. It is especially difficult to find in the mass of such devices something that can be used normally in everyday life, but we still made such an attempt. Meet Huawei Ascend Y511 – the cheapest of the manufacturer’s current smartphones presented on our market.

Design and ergonomics

If it weren’t for the manufacturer’s name on the front side, the Huawei Y511 lying on the table could easily be mistaken for a smartphone of any other brand. The design of the front side is completely identical to many other devices. Three touch keys (Back, Home and Menu), a screen, a narrow speaker grille, a miniature peephole of the front camera and well-disguised proximity and light sensors - that’s all that can be found on the front panel of the smartphone. The bottom and left glossy dark gray sides are empty, on the top you can find a mini-jack and an interface connector, on the right - a paired volume key and a power button below it. The buttons are colored in the color of the side frame. The back cover is the most interesting design element of a smartphone. Painted dark gray, at first glance it appears to be just another glossy cover, but upon closer inspection it turns out that the plastic underneath the gloss has cross-cuts and small inclusions of a glitter-like material. The back cover of the Samsung Galaxy S III is made of similar plastic, where it looks a little more expensive. On it you can find slots for a ringing speaker, a camera, and a rough manufacturer’s logo.

By removing the back cover you get access to the battery, two standard-sized SIM cards and a memory card. Hot swapping is available for the second SIM card and memory card, but the labels on the connectors advise against doing this.

Slightly smoothed edges and corners contribute to a comfortable grip of the smartphone, and the weight of 150 grams compensates for the slight slipperiness of the sides and back cover. The latter actively collects fingerprints, but thanks to the pattern on the plastic they are less noticeable. Judging by the photo, the device is white, has a matte cover and should be free from these shortcomings.

The physical control keys have a clearly noticeable short stroke and a quiet click, making them convenient to use. The review sample was not a commercial one - its power button protrudes less than the volume key and is less visible to the touch. Both of them squeak a little if you run your finger over them with light pressure. The back cover is minimally pressed towards the battery. We hope that this is just a feature of our sample. There are no other shortcomings in the assembly - in general, the Y511 feels great in the hand, and the body does not make any extraneous sounds during normal use.

The touch control keys are responsive and have a dim, uniform backlight. Holding “Home” brings up the Google Now assistant, “Menu” brings up a list of recently running applications.

Screen

The Huawei Ascend Y511 has a regular 4.5-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 480 by 854 pixels. Measurements showed that its minimum brightness is 31.5 cd/m2, average – 186 cd/m2, maximum – 378 cd/m2. Checking the correctness of color rendering shows quite large deviations from the reference values.

According to subjective feelings, the screen leaves a more pleasant impression. The TN matrix does not have large viewing angles (colors are inverted with vertical deviations), but is readable under any lighting conditions. The picture looks clear, the pixels are barely noticeable even when viewed closely. Color rendering is natural, colors are bright. At minimum brightness, color saturation decreases, and at maximum, the screen looks slightly overexposed. Automatic brightness adjustment works correctly. According to her own feelings, she lowers the brightness a little, although this moment is purely individual for everyone. The picture looks best at medium brightness levels. The finger glides well across the screen, although it does not have an oleophobic coating. The sensor is responsive. Considering the price of the smartphone, the display is good.

Interface

The smartphone runs Android operating system version 4.2.2. The standard interface is used with minimal cosmetic changes.

The first of them is that when you click on the lock icon, four shortcuts appear on the lock screen: unlock, SMS, camera, calls. Unlike stock Android 4.2.2, there is only one lock screen; you cannot add widgets to it.

Secondly, the icons of our own applications are redrawn, and a colored background is added to third-party ones. No other differences were found.

Calls and multimedia

Telephone functionality is implemented at a good level. The volume of the ringing speaker is above average - in most situations it is audible, but the sound in your pocket is still muffled. The vibration alert is mediocre, you may not even feel it. The speaker has a good volume reserve, even in a noisy environment the audibility of the interlocutor is excellent. At the same time, the voices of the interlocutors sound clearly, “on the other side” you can also be heard well. An unpleasant moment is the lack of an event indicator.

SIM card management is implemented as standard - default parameters are set in the settings, when making a call or sending a message you can select a different SIM card - a special switch appears in the notification shade.

Music playback quality is average. When listening to music on headphones, there is a volume reserve - in most situations, 50% of the maximum is enough. There is minimal amp noise, but depending on the headphones you're using and the ambient noise, it may not be audible. In any case, the amplifier in the Ascend Y511 is noticeably less noisy than in some other budget smartphones. The radio has average sensitivity.

The table shows the results of checking the omnivorousness of the built-in player; there were no surprises - everything is typical for the platform used:

Performance and memory

Many smartphones in the price category “up to $150” are built on the MediaTek MT6572 platform and have 512 MB of RAM. Huawei Ascend Y511 is no exception. Everything about the SoC itself has been known for a long time: two Cortex-A7 cores running at 1.3 GHz plus a Mali-400MP graphics core. Another thing is that the Y511 performs noticeably better than its classmates. Scrolling through desktops, launching applications, and all everyday operations are performed relatively quickly and without stuttering. The same applies to support for games – both popular casual ones and more resource-demanding ones. For example, Dead Trigger 2 runs without problems, but I managed to play Real Racing 3 only once; on subsequent attempts, the game refused to work correctly and constantly crashed after a couple of minutes of operation.

GPS performance is satisfactory. When you first launch it, it takes about two minutes to find satellites and connect to them; subsequently, it takes less than 30 seconds.

Built-in memory 4 GB, 1.25 GB allocated for applications and user data. When installing a memory card, it is possible to install programs on external memory.

Below you can see the benchmark results.

Camera

The Huawei Y511 uses a three-megapixel camera module without autofocus and flash, and has a front VGA camera. You usually don’t expect outstanding photographic abilities from budget smartphones; based on the characteristics of the camera, you can form an unmistakable opinion about its capabilities. The lack of flash is a little disappointing - it wouldn't help the camera, but it would be very useful as a flashlight. Below are examples of pictures and videos.

The camera interface is simple, with minimal settings.

Autonomy

The Huawei Ascend Y511 battery has a capacity of 1730 mAh. If you talk for about 30 minutes a day, listen to music for an hour or two, read Twitter throughout the day, play occasionally, and do not turn off communication modules and synchronization, then the smartphone will work for one and a half to two days.

The table contains the results of two-hour tests of the autonomy of various smartphones:

Results

As a result, Huawei Ascend Y511 is one of the best budget Android smartphones that ITC has recently reviewed. It has good ergonomics, a high-quality earpiece, screen and excellent performance (considering the price). As always, there is a fly in the ointment - the camera in the smartphone is very weak, this may scare off some users. But in all other cases, when the smartphone is going to be used as a tool for communication and entertainment, Ascend Y511 will not let you down!

What I didn't like

GPS doesn’t find satellites, the display has no viewing angles at all, I’ll say even more, in a horizontal position the image becomes eye-popping, that is, you won’t watch or play the video, the interface is laggy, the speaker is terrible, I can hear my interlocutors as if from a jolt. All other shortcomings are in the technical description for the phone. There is no flash, little memory, in general the phone itself is one big drawback

What I liked

I haven’t found it in 2 days. I can only point out that the interlocutors hear well, but this should be the norm for a normal phone. But since 511 is not a normal phone, I’ll note this.

What I didn't like

No flash, TFT display, almost nothing visible on the street, bad camera. After half a year of use, it began to turn off on its own, as it turned out, I needed to remove the flash card from the phone until I found another solution.

What I liked

Price, large screen, fast, durable, good battery life

What I didn't like

During a conversation, sometimes something happens that puts the phone into airplane mode and the connection is lost. After six months of use, it began to turn off on its own.

What I liked

Outwardly pleasant, weighty, the body makes a good impression, durable. After buying it, I hardly use the tablet, reading and listening to music is great. Good sound quality.

What I didn't like

there wasn't until the last days

What I liked

What I didn't like

For this price there should be more. The most important thing is that I can’t find a headset with good sound and correct controls. If it’s easier with sound, then with a remote control - so far none of them have worked.
Another drawback is Android (well, this is IMHO, because I’m a convinced snarler with experience)

What I liked

Comfortable, bright screen with good response. Excellent sound when talking both in the speaker and from the person you are calling. Price.

What I didn't like

bad speaker. people on the other end of the phone cannot hear me clearly.

What I liked

The phone suits me in everything except the shortcomings listed below.

What I didn't like

weak camera

What I liked

Cost, high-quality assembly, 2 SIMMs, functionality

What I didn't like

1. Camera. There is no flash, so the photo can only be taken in very bright light.
2. The lid is a little loose, but apparently this is the assembly we got.
3. The charging cord is short, and it doesn’t seem like a problem to buy a long one, but it’s still annoying that they couldn’t have included a better one in the kit)
4. It’s hard to find accessories for your phone, mainly in terms of availability.
5. There is no music player, if you are not satisfied with Google music, you have to download third-party ones.
6. Doesn't read some fairly popular video formats.

What I liked

1. Price. 2. Screen. The size is convenient, the sensor is responsive. 3. Memory. I use a memory card, so there is enough space for all files and applications. 4. Wi-Fi works great. In general, it’s hard to write about the advantages, because... I'm completely satisfied with the phone, there are some drawbacks that don't really bother me.

What I didn't like

The charging connector in this model is defective, one phone was returned, the other was sent for repair - it lasted 2 months. Heavy. It often slows down and has to be rebooted. GPS may not start at the right time. In order to connect it to the computer and see the SD card, you have to reboot the cable in the computer.

What I liked

Large screen. Sees the flash drive well. 2 SIM cards. The battery lasts a long time if you keep an eye on running applications. Not a bad player - sound.

What I didn't like

I bought it and now I’m suffering because there is no flash on the camera. If the room is slightly dark or it’s cloudy outside, you won’t take a photo of anything; more precisely, you’ll see a dark spot in the photo

What I liked

The phone is very good, considering that its price is 5600t.r.

What I didn't like

hard to open the back panel
